The Malaysian delegation from Kota Kinabalu visited its sister city Yongin on the 118th. The
delegation met with Mayor Seo Jung Suk, signed the public official exchange agreement and
discussed measures of exchanges between the two cities.
Led by Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Iliyas bin Ibrahim, the delegation consisted of 7 public
officials in the sectors of health care, mechanical engineering, urban landscape, and tourism
and 3 businessmen. Both cities decided to build a more concrete cooperative relation for their
mutual benefit. Through such efforts, Kota Kinabalu and Yongin decided to learn about each
others’ excellent policies by exchanging public officials and to find areas of common interest.
The delegation also went on a site tour of major facilities in Yongin Administration Town for
Culture & Welfare and experienced Korean traditional culture at Korean Folk Village.
Yongin City signed a sister city agreement with Kota Kinabalu City, Malaysia, in November
2004. Both cities have continued exchanges in the areas of culture and economy by sending
each others’ cultural arts performance teams and visiting industrial complexes of both cities.
